Biography #2 (for The Majestic)

Amanda Detmer initially pursued her craft at Chico State University, her hometown in northern California. Following graduation, she headed east to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where she earned her master's degree in Fine Arts. Soon thereafter, Detmer landed roles in a TV movie-of-the-week (Stolen Innocence) and a series pilot (To Serve and Protect) before debuting on the motion picture screen in the beauty pageant satire, Drop Dead Gorgeous.

She has since starred in such features as Final Destination, Lucky 3, Boys and Girls and Saving Silverman, and recently completed starring roles in A Little Inside, Kiss the Bride and Big Fat Liar.

Her additional television credits include Ryan Caulfield: Year One and her series regular role on M.Y.O.B.

Detmer also has an extensive list of stage credits which include Shakespeare's Othello, Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, Caryl Churchill's Cloud Nine, Thornton Wilder's Our Town, Chekov's The Three Sisters, A Bright Room Called Day and Amadeus this past summer.
