Amanda Detmer

Amanda Detmer's motivation to get into acting stemmed from wanting to follow in the footsteps of her older brother, who was involved with community theater in their hometown of Chico, California. However her first on-stage experience resulted in her forgetting two of her five lines. Undaunted, she continued to study acting and went on to earn her Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University.

After graduation she worked at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she appeared in productions of Amadeus and The Importance of Being Earnest. Eager to jumpstart her acting career, Detmer moved to Los Angeles. An important break came for her when she got a lead role alongside Craig T. Nelson and Richard Crenna in the 1999 miniseries, To Serve and Protect, a story about three generations of Dallas police officers.

Additional television credits include guest starring roles in CSI: Miami and Miss Match, and she appeared in the television movies Picking Up and Dropping Off for ABC Family and Stolen Innocence for CBS.

Detmer currently lives in Los Angeles. She enjoys spending time with her three dogs, Lola, Tippit and Boo Radley -- named for her favorite character in the classic novel and movie, To Kill a Mockingbird.
