Born in England and raised in Australia, FRANCES O' CONNOR has steadily built an impressive body of work that has garnered attention from some of the industry's most influential filmmakers, including Steven Spielberg and John Woo. She has starred alongside Jude Law in Spielberg's futuristic drama, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence and in Woo's WWII film, Windtalkers, opposite Nicolas Cage.Currently, she is filming The Lazarus Child, written by Ronald Bass and co-starring Andy Garcia and Angela Bassett.
O'Connor's other film credits include The Importance of Being Earnest with Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth, Bedazzled with Brendan Fraser and Mansfield Park, in which she had the principal role as Fanny Price, one of Jane Austen's classically, socially-repressed and independent-spirited heroines. Notably, she has received critical praise for her roles in Kiss or Kill, a crime thriller directed by Bill Bennett, and in Love and Other Catastrophes.
On the small screen, O'Connor has received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a TV Movie or Miniseries for PBS' highly acclaimed Madame Bovary. In Australia for the TV movie Halifax, her starring role was lauded by critics. This year, she completed filming the historical drama about strong-willed American suffragettes called Iron-Jawed Angels," with Hilary Swank, Anjelica Huston and Patrick Dempsey.
O'Connor currently resides in London.
