Biography #2 (for King Arthur)
Handsome Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd has played a number of dashing leading men in big budget TV costume dramas, most notably the lead part in ITV's Hornblower. Since 1998 and Hornblower: The Even Chance, Gruffudd has notched up a total of three seasons playing the role.He starred as Gareth Wyn Harries in Pobol y Cwm and attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts from 1992 to 1995. Afterwards, he was cast in the title role of the TV series Poldark and starred in the period drama Wilde and the Hollywood blockbuster, Titanic.
He played Pip in the TV movie Great Expectations. Other feature films included Solomon & Gaenor, Shooters, and the romantic lead in the liveaction comedy, 102 Dalmatians. In 2002, he played Phillip Bosinney in a miniseries remake of The Forsythe Saga and he played opposite Stephen Dillane in the British-made horror film, The Gathering. His most recent film was This Girl's Life.

Ioan Gruffudd is one of the UK's fastest rising stars, both in film and television. As well as a starring role in 102 Dalmatians, Gruffudd's other film credits include the forthcoming Shooters, Another Life, and Very Annie Mary, as well as the Academy Award® nominated Soloman and Gaenor, Titanic and Wilde.Most recently Gruffudd starred as John Feeley in the BBC's highly acclaimed series Warriors, as well as starring in the BBC's popular series Hornblower. His role as Horatio Hornblower won him the Best Actor in a Drama Series Award at the 1999 Biarritz International Television Festival and the series an Emmy for Best Miniseries.
Hornblower II will be released at the end of 2000.
