Biography #2 (for Scary Movie 3)Macy Gray has emerged as one of Hollywood's most versatile and sought after talents. Macy exploded onto the music scene with her incredibly successful debut album, On How Life Is. Her single I Try landed her a Grammy in 1999 for Best New Artist. Her second album, entitled The Id, was also immensely successful. This past July, Macy Gray released her highly anticipated third album, ‘The Trouble with Being Myself." Macy has been very busy lately performing her new works on such programs as ‘Good Morning America,' ‘The Tonight Show,' ‘The Sharon Osborne Show' and even co-hosted ‘The Jimmy Kimmel Live Show' for an entire week. This fall she is on tour with David Bowie and next spring will start her own tour. When not working on her own albums, Macy continues to collaborate with many artists such as Carlos Santana who she toured with last summer and recorded a song on his latest album, The Essential Santana. Macy's sound has also recently graced such soundtracks as Eminem's critically acclaimed blockbuster 8 Mile in which she was the only female artist featured. She also recorded a song for the Academy Award winning film, Chicago along with Queen Latifah and Li'l Kim.
Macy has also spread her acting wings as well. Last Spring she appeared in the ABC television drama MDs where she played a talented singer who was diagnosed with a career damaging disease in her throat. Other roles include Training Day with Denzel Washington and a cameo in the blockbuster hit Spider Man. Her forthcoming films include The Crow, Wicked Prayer and Jackie Chan's remake of Around the World in 80 Days. Macy is also currently developing her own animated cartoon, which will be based on her own childhood.
