John Aylward

Although best known for his portrayal of hard-nosed chief-of-staff Dr. Anspaugh on NBC's hit show ER, John Aylward has spent the past thirty years performing in hundreds of plays on stages throughout the U.S. and Canada, including stints on Broadway and as a company member of the Seattle Repertory Theatre. He has brought life to roles both comedic and tragic in everything from classics by Shakespeare and Moliere (including the title roles in King Lear, Richard III and The Miser) to contemporary works by Beckett (Waiting for Godot, etc.), Sam Shepard, Tom Stoppard, David Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross) and Arthur Miller (just last year portraying Willy Loman in Death of a Salesman).

Television credits include The Practice, 3rd Rock From the Sun, Northern Exposure, Ink, Grace Under Fire and HBO's From the Earth to the Moon.

Feature films include The Three Fugitives, Third Degree Burn (HBO), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, Buddy, Creature (movie-of-the-week), Armageddon, the yet-to-be-released Return to Graceland (with Harvey Keitel) and the movie-of-the-week coming to ABC this spring, Swing Vote starring Andy Garcia.
