Meat Loaf
He became known to national audiences as Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which he also performed on Broadway. More recently, he starred opposite Brad Pitt and Edward Norton in DavidWayne's World and Leap of Faith among others. His television credits include The Ballad of Lucy Whipple, opposite Glenn Close and the HBO movie Blacktop opposite Kristen Davis.
Originally from Dallas Texas, Meat Loaf began his career in Los Angeles and made his chart debut in 1971. The notorious 1977 album Bat Out of Hell has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and is the number three selling record of all time. His 1993 sequel, Bat Out of Hell II: Back to Hell, earned him a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Performance for "I Would Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)," and was one of the biggest selling records of the year (18 million copies worldwide). Additionally, he simultaneously released the album Storytellers, in partnership with VH-1 and his autobiography To Hell and Back in 2003.
His next album, Bat Out of Hell III – The Monster is Loose (Virgin Records America), will be released on Halloween 2006 and marks the culmination of a three-decade journey for Meat Loaf. Combined, the first two Bat albums sold nearly 50 million copies worldwide, establishing Bat Out of Hell as a true musical franchise.
On Broadway, Meat Loaf has performed in Hair, and The National Lampoon Show. His off-Broadway appearances include As You Like It and Othello at Shakespeare in the Park. On November 2nd, Meat Loaf will return to Broadway for a special one-night engagement, Bat Out of Hell on Broadway, at New York's Palace Theatre. In this three-act musical he will perform songs from the Bat trilogy.
