Bridget Fonda

Bridget Fonda, one of Hollywood's busiest and most sought after young actresses, recently starred in Road to Wellville, also starring John Cusack, It Could Happen To You opposite Nicolas Cage, Rough Magic with Russell Crowe and Camilla with the late Jessica Tandy.

Deeply committed to acting and a self-avowed film fan who loves all movie genres, Fonda has purposely chosen roles in a wide variety of films.

After studying drama at New York University and the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, as well as training with acting coach Harold Guskin, Fonda made her feature debut in director Franc Roddam's segment of Aria, a 1988 film composed of short works by 10 filmmakers. Soon after, she starred in the comedy Shag with Phoebe Cates, and in 1989 she earned critical acclaim and a Golden Globe nomination as Best Supporting Actress for Scandal, the story of the Profumo affair which rocked the ruling party of Great Britain in the 1960s.

Fonda's other credits include Strapless, The Godfather, Part III (her first film also starring Al Pacino), Doc Hollywood in which she starred with Michael J. Fox, the psychological thriller Single White Female, with Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Singles, in which she plays a college educated espresso-bar waitress who dreams of being an architect.

Most recently, she starred in the Bernardo Bertulucci film Little Buddha with Keanu Reeves, Point of No Return with Gabriel Byrne, and Bodies, Rest & Motion with Phoebe Cates, Tim Roth and Eric Stoltz.

She is currently in theaters as the voice of Jenna in the Amblin animated feature Balto.

On television, Fonda has starred in PBS critically acclaimed Jacob Have I Loved and an episode for The Edge series on HBO.

Bridget Fonda, who portrays Marybeth Cogan, an attorney for the Detective's Endowment Association, is called to help the widow of a police officer who is shot and killed, after which he is investigated by Internal Affairs. Her quest for reality took her to an attorney named Richard Dienst, who practices at Dienst and Sarrins in the Woolworth building, right across from City Hall.

"Richard was a great help in introducing me to people in his office who I spent time with asking a lot of questions. He also suggested where I should go and who I should speak to -- the union delegate, the hospital, as well as making himself available any time I had a question before doing a scene.

I didn't know what to ask, having no guides, no pamphlets, nothing to prepare with, continues Fonda. I just had to feel the temperature in the room and you get it pretty quick. You understand that this is a situation where you're dealing with somebody's life - forever."
