Gordon Hatfield

Hatfield has been acknowledged for his work both on camera and off. He received the 1994 Best Actor Award at the New Zealand Film & TV Awards for the Nga Puna Series and was nominated for the 1999 TV Guide New Zealand Television Award for Best Contribution to Design for his work as Maori Production Designer on the mini series Greenstone. An accomplished Maori carver, Hatfield was also the Taiaha Co-ordinator on Gregor Nicholas' Broken English and recently handled Maori design on the film Crooked Earth, directed by Sam Pillsbury.

He has appeared in the feature films Rapa Nui, directed by Kevin Reynolds; Desperate Remedies; Jane Campion's The Piano and Old Scores a New Zealand and Wales co-production. Hatfield has also amassed a collection of small screen credits including the German production Gluckliche Reise; the New Zealand Explorer Series At Risk To Our Lives; Gloss; Funny Business; Roimata; Hightide; Hercules and Xena, for Pacific Renaissance in the US; the Scottish/New Zealand co-production Savage Play and Mysterious Island.

A highly skilled tattooist, Hatfield inked most of the cast and crew of SNAKESKIN. It was great having our own on set tattooist, laughs Ashurst. "Making this film was such an intense experience, to have a tattoo to take home is amazing."
