Angus MacFadyen is best known for his role of Robert the Bruce in Braveheart, directed by and starring Mel Gibson. Other famous characters that he has portrayed include Orson Welles in Cradle Will Rock, for director Tim Robbins, Adolf Hitler in Snide and Prejudice, Peter Lawford in The Rat Pack and Richard Burton in NBC's biopic Destiny: The Elizabeth Taylor Story. He will next be seen starring in the science fiction thriller Equilibrium. Macfadyen's additional feature film credits include Titus Andronicus, directed by Julie Taymor, A Woman is a Helluva Thing, Facade, Lanai-Loa, Still Breathing, The Brylcreem Boys, Nevada and Warriors of Virtue.

Among his television credits are the role of Zeus in Jason and the Argonauts; the series Taking Over the Asylum and telefilm The Lost Language of Cranes, both for BBC; Two Golden Balls, for Bard Entertainment; Channel Four's God of Happiness; and Care, for YTV.Born in Scotland and educated in France, Macfadyen graduated with honors from the University of Edinburgh.
