J.C. MacKenzie

Raised in Ottawa, Canada, J. C. MacKenzie saw his first play in New York on Broadway when he was 21. He attended Concordia University in Montreal, hoping to teach. After two years he was admitted to and attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in England. Upon his return to Canada, MacKenzie decided that instead of teaching he would try his hand at acting.

He spent the next two years working in most of Canada's major theatres, including the Shaw Festival, until Neil Simon hand-picked him to star in the American national tour of Biloxi Blues. When the tour concluded, MacKenzie moved to New York City, where he became a Circle Repertory Company member.

In 1995 MacKenzie moved to Los Angeles to star in Steven Bochco's critically acclaimed series Murder One, for which he played the role of Arnold Spivak for two seasons. MacKenzie also had a recurring role as Camryn Manheim's corrupt boyfriend on David E. Kelley's series The Practice.

MacKenzie's feature-film credits include Final, What Planet Are You From? and Dutch, as well as three Spike Lee films: He Got Game, Girl 6 and Clockers. His upcoming work includes a part in the independent feature The Return, and a role in The Departed.

On television, MacKenzie has guest-starred on many hit series. Among his numerous credits are appearances on such shows as Baywatch, Law & Order, the USA smash-hit Monk, C.S.I. Miami, The Shield, JAG, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and a recurring role on Earth: Final Conflict.
