Terence Trent D'arby

Terence Trent D'arby is an American singer. D'Arby was born in Manhattan, New York and joined the army after leaving college and served in Elvis Presley's old regiment in Germany.

His debut album, Introducing The Hardline According To Terence Trent D'Arby, released in 1987, is his best-known and most successful work. The album sold over a million copies in the first three days of release and a total of 12 million.

D'Arby received a Grammy Award in March 1988 for best male R&B vocal performance.

His song Sign Your Name has been covered more than 30 times by other artists.

As of 2002, he had released five albums, not counting early work with a band called The Touch (1983, re-released 1989).

His music has also been included on several movie soundtracks.

He officially changed his name to Sananda Maitreya in October 2001. He started his own recording label, Sananda Records, and is now an independent recording artist.
