Biography #2 (for Head of State)
Nick Searcy made his feature film debut in Tony Scott's Days of Thunder, starring Tom Cruise, and then appeared in Barbra Streisand's acclaimed drama The Prince of Tides. He first gained attention with his memorable performance as Mary-Louise Parker's abusive husband in the box office hit Fried Green Tomatoes, for director Jon Avnet. Searcy reunited with Avnet for The War, and includes among his other film credits The Fugitive, with Harrison Ford; Nell, starring Jodie Foster; Joel Schumacher's Tigerland; Robert Zemeckis' Cast Away, as Tom Hanks' best friend; and, most recently, the thriller One Hour Photo, with Robin Williams. Searcy will next be seen in The Runaway Jury, based on John Grisham's bestseller, starring opposite Gene Hackman and John Cusack.In addition, Searcy made his directorial debut on the acclaimed independent feature Paradise Falls, which he also produced and starred in. The film won awards at several film festivals, including the Hollywood Film Festival and Atlanta Film Festival.
On television, Searcy starred in the cult hit television series American Gothic and was the only actor to appear in every segment of HBO's award-winning miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, portraying astronaut Deke Slayton.
