Biography #2 (for American Wedding)

Jesse Dylan is representative of the new breed of Hollywood filmmaker, bringing his creative vision to life in music videos, commercials and feature films. His projects are stylistically cutting-edge and continually catch the pulse of today's youth market. Dylan is known for being consistently evocative and innovative, as he continues to push the creative envelope by challenging convention.

Dylan most recently completed his second feature, American Wedding. His challenge was to update and bring new life to this third installment of the half-billion dollar American Pie franchise for Universal Pictures.

Dylan's feature directorial debut, How High, starred Redman and Method Man as two marijuana-loving high school dropouts who are accidentally admitted to Harvard University. The comedy was an unabashed success at the box office and introduced Dylan to the mainstream feature film audience.

Dylan's penchant for directing edgy fare developed early as a music video director for groundbreaking artists such as The Wallflowers, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Nick Cave, and Henry Rollins. He also directed the video to the 1991 hit single It Ain't Over ‘Til It's Over by Lenny Kravitz.

Dylan's successes in directing music videos also brought him many opportunities in commercial work. He began directing commercials for virtually every high-profile ad campaign, including Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Energizer, Chase Manhattan, Snapple, Budweiser, Audi and Reebok.

However, Dylan's roots lie in still photography, a passion which he revisits to this day. He continues to photograph powerful images for Elvis Costello and Tom Waits, who utilize his photography extensively for their album covers. Dylan has also dabbled in architecture and most recently designed a modular living space, which has been profiled in various architectural publications. He currently resides in his award-winning home with his wife and two children, whom he considers his greatest treasure.

A multi-faceted artist with a list of credits that reflect his inventive vision, Dylan has proved himself a creator of many different forms. His films and music videos reflect an intuitive sense of style and also display his heightened understanding of pop culture blended precisely with sharp, visual storytelling. Dylan continues to pursue fare that allows him to utilize his broad creative range and to diversify his many talents.
