Thom Hoffman was born on 3 March 1957. He often plays tormented/troubled characters such as in Witte waan (1984) as a suicidal junkie (1984) and Zoeken naar Eileen (1987) as a man desperately in love, and Avonden (1989) playing Frits van Egters.

An oft spoken phrase of Thom's is I have a dark look on human motives.

His debut film was Luger (1982) under direction of Theo van Gogh. He has played in more than twenty movies and tv-series. He calls himself more a hard working man than a gifted actor His second profession is that of a photographer.
