Mark Curry
Named one of TV Guide's
most loved people on television Mark Curry, continues to be one of the most sought after stand-up comedians today. In addition to his successful television career, last year Curry made his feature film debut in the critically-acclaimed feature film
Panther. Born and raised in Oakland, California, the six-foot-six-inches tall Curry is the youngest of eight children. A strong believer in higher education, he attended the California State University of Hayward, eventually leaving to manage a local drug store in Oakland. An immediate success, he began headlining at all the major comedy clubs throughout the country and all over the world. Curry's other television experiences include hosting the popular syndicated
Showtime at the Apollo. He has also starred in his own half-hour HBO special; opened for
Whitney Houston at the 1991 Superbowl pre-game concert and has toured with stand-up comedian
Damon Wayans. He performed in the
Redd Foxx Tribute at the Apollo Theatre and, for the past three years, hosted the televised Jim Thorpe Sports Awards. In between filming
Cooper, Curry continues to travel around the world doing stand-up comedy.
