Michael Ian Black
Black's television career took off when he co-created and starred in MTV's sketch comedy show The State. He followed that up with a stint on the TV cable satire Viva Variety, in which he co-created, executive-produced, wrote and starred as Johnny Bluejeans. He also guest-starred on Spin City and NYPD Blue.
Black is creator and co-host, with David Wain and Michael Showalter, of the weekly nightclub show, Stella, which has played to sold-out audiences in New York since its inception in January 1997. Stella has spawned a series of short films and a pilot for the VH-1 cable network. Black appeared for the first time on the big screen in the independent feature, Wet Hot American Summer, with Paul Rudd and Janeane Garofalo. While on hiatus from Ed in the summer of 2001, the actor hosted NBC's reality series SPY TV.
Black currently lives in New York with his wife Martha, and their newborn son. When not on the set of Ed, he says he spends nearly all of his time trying to decide what color to paint his dining room.
