Rachel Cronin
Cronin entered the drama program at Argyle Secondary in North Vancouver, British Columbia., a high school that places a heavy emphasis on arts and performance. "My first role was in a murder mystery called ‘Any Number Can Die,' says Cronin. "I was completely terrified, but at the same time I felt as though I was exactly where I was supposed to be." She excelled in this creative environment and graduated with a Best Actress Award, a scholarship to continue studying acting and a performing arts award.
In short order, Cronin was accepted into the bachelor of Fine Arts Acting Program at the University of British Columbia, a program that auditions national and international applicants and selects only six women and six men per year. The successful applicants study acting intensively and Cronin graduated at the top of her class and received outstanding reviews from the Vancouver media.
Within six months of her graduation, Cronin was acting professionally with a lead role in the Bastion Theatre Company's production of 15 Miles of Broken Glass at the MacPherson Playhouse. Since then, she has continued to work consistently in theater, television and film.
Cronin is a born observer and her observations of people and animals since her youth have provided her with a gallery of character studies. "I learn a great deal from those around me and it definitely influences my work, says Cronin. I've met many, many interesting people in my life and as an actor I have had the chance to draw on those experiences in portraying a broad range of characters." Among the broad range of characters she's played are Snow White-the-talking-cadaver to socialites and skid-row junkies. Cronin was preparing to launch her one-woman show, Different Drummer, which she wrote and was preparing to star in at the Vancouver Fringe Festival, when she was contacted by NBC to play her current character – whom, she says, Definitely marches to a different drummer on Ed.
Cronin resides in New York.
