Biography #2 (for Chasing Liberty)

Silver screen newcomer Matthew Goode has performed in numerous television and theater projects. Among his credits are Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, with Stockard Channing, Jonathan Pryce and Trudie Styler, directed by Gavin Millar.

Goode has just finished filming the role of Brooke Burgess in Anthony Trollope's classic romantic drama He Knew He Was Right, directed by Tom Vaughan for the BBC. Prior to this, he played the leading role of writer Gerrard Brennan in South From Granada, the story of the English writer and member of the Bloomsbury Group in Spain in the 1920's. For his work in the film, Goode memorized his lines for more than 58 scenes in Spanish. Among other performances, he played the lead in the BBC's Inspector Lynley Mysteries, and his theater credits include Ariel in Shakespeare's The Tempest and Moon in Lorca's Blood Wedding for the Mercury Theater Co.

Goode studied drama and theater arts at Birmingham University, where teachers hail from the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company. He also studied classical theater at London's Webber Douglas Academy of Performing Arts.
