Nutan

Nutan (June 4, 1936 - February, 1991), is considered one of the finest actresses in Indian Cinema.

Nutan was the daughter of actress Shobhna Samarth. She started her career as actress as a 14 year old in Hamari Beti (1950). Her first big break was Seema (opposite Balraj Sahni) which won her a filmfare. She followed her success with romantic comedy Paying guest (opposite Dev Anand). In 1959 she had two hits in Anadi (with Raj Kapoor) and Bimal Roy's Sujata (with Sunil Dutt). There was no looking back after that.

Her facial expressions were her greatest assets. She can be called Audrey Hepburn of Indian Cinema.

Nutan has won 6 Filmfare Awards and countless others - the most any actress has won to date.

Being called the best by the best is probably more important then the filmfare awards. Lata Mangeshkar calls her the face she could sing for. Dev Anand identified her as the actress you could carry out an intelligent conversation with. Sadhna called Nutan her idol.

Her son Mohnish Behl is an actor too. Her sister Tanuja also acted in movies. While her niece Kajol has had a very successful career in films.
