Paul Abascal

Paul Abascal, who makes his feature film-directing debut with PAPARAZZI, began his entertainment career in 1983 as a hair stylist on The Osterman Weekend. Over the next 13 years he became one of the most sought-after stylists in Hollywood. His credits as hair stylist include Pretty in Pink, Lethal Weapon (1, 2 and 3) Who's That Girl?, Die Hard, Predator 2, Striking Distance, Demolition Man, The Specialist, Just Cause and Judge Dredd.

In 1988, Abascal delved into directing with the acclaimed 30-minute HBO special "Mel Gibson's Unauthorized Diary: The Making of 'Lethal Weapon 2 and 3'." His efforts garnered a CableAce nomination and caught the eye of producer Joel Silver and director Richard Donner, who asked Abascal to direct an episode of the hit series Tales from the Crypt. That began a string of television directing jobs including Nash Bridges, Secret Agent Man, The Sentinel, Freedom, The Strip and Witchblade.
