Larry Joe Campbell
Campbell first hit the stage when he was a junior in high school, where he performed in a follies production with his parents. When it came time for college, he had intended to make sports medicine his field of study, but instead found himself signing up for four theatrical classes at Central Michigan University. He graduated with a BAA in theater and went on to a Masters in theater at Wayne State University.
His knack for comedy eventually landed him with the Second City troupe in Detroit, where he was involved in a number of the stage productions; including Greetings from Viagra Falls, Send in the Clones and One Nation Undecided. He also wrote and directed Accidental Terrorist and Guns and Moses for the troupe. It was while he was performing with Second City in 1998 that Bob Saget came out and improvised with them. A week later, Saget's manager flew to Detroit to watch the group and ended up signing Campbell on the spot. Recently Campbell and his other Detroit Second City alums have started up The 313, an improv group currently performing at The Second City in L.A.
Campbell's television credits include a guest starring role on ABC's Geena, Suddenly Susan, Friends and Stark Raving Mad. He was also a series regular on ABC's The Trouble with Normal. He has also appeared in the feature One Half Gone. He has a cameo in the Wedding Crashers with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, and appeared in the recent comedy Jimminy Glick in La La Land. He will co-star in the upcoming independent comedy/horror film Drive Through.
A self-proclaimed sports nut, Campbell hasn't forgotten his Michigan roots and is still a big fan of Detroit's football and hockey teams, the Lions and the Red Wings. He currently resides in the Los Angeles area with his wife, Peggy, and their four children, Gabriella, Nathan, and twins Madelyn and Maxwell. The Campbell's are expecting their fifth child this year.
