Star Jones

Star Jones, attorney, television personality, former prosecutor, political insider, philanthropist, best-selling author and lecturer, has worked in television for nearly two decades. After her initial debut on television 18 years ago, Jones has interviewed, covered, reported on, or provided social commentary on every major U.S. news event, criminal and civil trial, and A list celebrity/newsmaker of the last two decades. She has obtained exclusive and/or personal interviews with everyone from murderers and child molesters to a host of celebrities, entertainers, captains of industry, politicians and lawyers, as well as several former United States Presidents. Jones began her television career at Court TV in 1991 as a volunteer commentator while Senior Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York. Within six months of her debut, she was named the NBC Legal Correspondent for the Today Show and NBC Nightly News. Over the next two decades, Jones hosted her own syndicated show, Jones & Jury; was Senior Correspondent and Chief Legal Analyst for Inside Edition; hosted Live from the Red Carpet for E! Entertainment Television; and acted as the executive editor and host of The Star Jones Show on truTV (formally Court TV.) Jones is perhaps best known as co-host of the Emmy Award winning talk show The View. She helped launch the program as an original host when it premiered in August of 1997, and was a co-host for nine years. In the words of executive producer and co-host, Barbara Walters, "'The View' would have never become the success it is without Star."

In the corporate world, Jones has been a featured personality for numerous consumer brands, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Kohl's and Target. Jones has graced the cover of numerous magazines, and has been featured in every major newspaper and magazine in the country on topics ranging from news to lifestyle. Star has written two best-selling books. Her writing reach now extends to the blogosphere with her own daily blog, Positively Star, and as a special guest contributor to the Huffington Post and Global Grind.

Jones has acted as an informal advisor to former Chairman Howard Dean and has been a prolific fundraiser and national public speaker on behalf of former President Bill Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, Senator John Kerry, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and President Barack Obama.

Jones is heavily involved in numerous philanthropic efforts. As a goodwill ambassador for First Star, she was the voice of the effort to give basic rights to children in America's foster care system. She presently serves on the board of directors/trustees of Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research, and God's Love We Deliver. She has also been a board member of the National Urban League, the East Harlem School at Exodus House, Girls, Inc., and Dress for Success Worldwide.

As law is still her first love, Jones has been for the last 22 years and still is a licensed attorney in the state of New York. As a prosecutor in Brooklyn, she received national media attention in court with a number of highly publicized victories, and was named a Senior Assistant Attorney before she was 29 years old. To date, her conviction rate (31 of 33) remains the best in the county.

Jones is presently writing a new book (Spring 2011 publication date) and is in talks to develop a new television show. She has expanded her sphere of influence behind the camera with an executive role, by forming Girlfriend Entertainment, Inc., her own production company, that will focus on smart, positive entertainment, produced for the entire family.
