Lance Hool

Lance Hool has a diverse background as producer, director, writer and film executive. In 1999, he directed and produced One's Man's Hero, starring Tom Berenger, Hool's 21st movie since arriving in Hollywood in 1977.

Born and raised in Mexico City in a family environment of international politics and art, Hool spent his formative years learning the art of filmmaking, first as an actor on several motion pictures, including Ralph Nelson's Soldier Blue, starring Candace Bergen, and Howard Hawks' Rio Lobo, starring John Wayne. After receiving an MBA, he entered the film business full time, rapidly becoming one of Mexico's biggest filmmakers as well as heading the international aspects of the Mexican film industry.

Relocating to Los Angeles in 1977, Hool was soon known as one of the leading action film producers with films like Survival Run; Caboblanco, starring Charles Bronson and Jason Robards; Ten to Midnight and The Evil That Men Do, both starring Charles Bronson; and The Honor Guard, with Rod Steiger. His two biggest indepen dent hits, Missing in Action, which Hool wrote and produced, and "Missing in Action II,' which he directed, both starred Chuck Norris.

In 1987, Hool formed Silver Lion Films with his brother Conrad. In a short time they financed and produced over 10 films, including Steel Dawn, starring Patrick Swayze; Dead or Alive, with Kris Kristofferson; Gunmen, with Mario Van Peebles; Road Flower, with Christopher Lambert; Flashfire, with Billy Zane; The Air Up There, with Kevin Bacon; and Pure Luck," starring Martin Short and Danny Glover. Hool served as executive producer on Flipper, starring Paul Hogan, and as the executive producer on McHale's Navy," the feature film version of the 1962-66 sitcom. Tom Arnold starred in the original Ernest Borgnine role.

Hool will next produce and direct Don't Shoot the Pilot, a non-stop action/adventure film set against the background of the civil war in Central Africa starring Tom Berenger. His future projects include In the Name of Love, The Caretakers, with Paul Hogan, and Colter's Hell.
