Catherine Zeta-Jones

Catherine Zeta-Jones won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of the murderous Velma Kelly in the Oscar-winning Best Picture Chicago, in which she starred with Renée Zellweger and Richard Gere. She also won Screen Actors Guild (SAG), BAFTA and Critics Choice Awards, and received a Golden Globe Award nomination for her acting, singing and dancing performance in the musical. In addition to Zeta-Jones' individual awards, the entire cast of Chicago won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Motion Picture Cast.

Zeta-Jones had previously earned a Golden Globe nomination for her work in Steven Soderbergh's drama Traffic, and, along with her castmates, won a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Motion Picture Cast.

More recently, Zeta-Jones starred opposite George Clooney in the Coen brothers' comedy Intolerable Cruelty, in which she played a gold-digging Beverly Hills divorcee. Later this year, she will be reteamed with Clooney in Ocean's Twelve, the sequel to Ocean's Eleven, which also reunites her with her Traffic director Steven Soderbergh.

Zeta-Jones first gained international recognition with her standout performance in Martin Campbell's action adventure hit The Mask of Zorro, in which she starred as Elena, the daughter of the elder Zorro, played by Anthony Hopkins, and the love interest of the younger Zorro, played by Antonio Banderas. She is next set to reprise her role in Zorro 2, which brings her together again with Banderas under the direction of Campbell.

Zeta-Jones' additional film credits include Jon Amiel's romantic thriller Entrapment, opposite Sean Connery; Jan De Bont's The Haunting; Stephen Frears' High Fidelity; and Joe Roth's directorial debut feature America's Sweethearts, with Julia Roberts, Billy Crystal and John Cusack. She also voiced the role of Marina in Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, opposite Brad Pitt.

Born in Wales, Zeta-Jones began her career on the stage, starring in the West End production of 42nd Street. She then landed a leading role in the hit Yorkshire Television series The Darling Buds of May, based on the novels of H.E. Bates.
