Lamont Bentley's aptitude for comedy became apparent when accompanying his mother on her auditions he frequently made people laugh. Soon, he was encouraged to pursue an entertainment career of his own.

Bentley has a long list of stage, television and film credits including the acclaimed series South Central, as well as The Sentinel, The Client, Reasonable Doubts, Buffalo Soldiers, and Tales from the Hood. He is also poised for a career in music - he and a partner have formed a positive hip-hop rap duo called Uprise.

Bentley frequently visits his hometown of Milwaukee, where the mayor has named a day in his honor. He was commissioned as an Ambassador of Good Will by the Governor of Arkansas, was awarded the Watts Community Image Award for being a role model in Los Angeles. Lamont was also named among the Top Twenty Sexiest Black Men by Sisters in Style magazine.
