Lupe Ontiveros

Lupe Ontiveros is a legend in the Latino community. A versatile performer, producer and community activist, she received an award from the National Board of Review and an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Beverly Franco, the theatre house manager in Miguel Arteta's Chuck and Buck.

Ontiveros' extensive film credits include Gregory Nava's El Norte, Mi Familia and Selena and supporting roles in As Good as it Gets, The Big Fix, Blessed Art Thou, Bound by Honor, Born in East L.A., Johnny Depp's The Brave, California Suite, Goonies, Picking Up the Pieces with Woody Allen, The Rosary Murders and Universal Soldier.

Her television credits include guest starring roles on Veronica's Closet (ALMA Award), Caroline in the City, Red Shoe Diaries, Who's the Boss?, Fame, Eight is Enough, Alice, and Charlie's Angels.

Ontiveros' stage work includes the Los Angeles, New York, and film productions of Luis Valdez's ground breaking Zoot Suit, where she created the role of Dolores, the first Chicana mother on the Broadway stage. Ontiveros is a founding member of the Latino Theatre Company in Los Angeles.

After graduating from Texas Women's University, Ontiveros worked as a social worker in East Los Angeles and Compton.
