Robin Givens
In 1980, at the young age of fifteen, Robin enrolled as a freshman at Sarah Lawrence College to study pre-med. By her junior year however, Robin's excitement about the idea of a career in acting intensified, and she began taking her craft more seriously after graduation. Her first step was going to regular auditions for parts on the many soap operas shooting in New York, and she was soon offered roles on The Guiding Light and Another World. She also landed a role on the highly popular Cosby Show, and as a result, she and comedian
Bill Cosby forged a great friendship, which proved to be instrumental in the development of Robin's career.
In 1986, three days after she arrived in Hollywood, Robin landed a part in the television movie Hollywood Madam with Faye Dunaway. At the same time she read for the role of Darlene Marrimen on the sitcom Head of the Class, which she also landed.
