Rosario Dawson

Rosario Dawson reunites with director Chris Columbus following her role as Mimi Valdez in the motion picture adaptation of the Pulitzer Prizewinning Jonathan Larson musical Rent, in which she starred alongside many of the original stage cast members including Anthony Rapp, Adam Pascal, Jesse L. Martin and Taye Diggs. Dawson starred in the hit thriller Eagle Eye opposite Billy Bob Thornton and Shia LaBeouf, and Gabriele Muccino's mystical drama Seven Pounds in which she re-teamed with Will Smith while winning acclaim and praise from critics and fans alike. She stars opposite Kevin James in the upcoming comedy Zookeeper and will next star with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine in Tony Scott's thriller, Unstoppable, release by Twentieth Century Fox later this year.

Dawson's directorial collaborations over the years include John Madden (Killshot); Quentin Tarantino (Death Proof, the second half of the unique double bill entitled Grind House, which was screened In Competition at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival); Robert Rodriguez (his acclaimed film noir thriller Sin City, which also screened ‘In Competition' at Cannes in 2005); Kevin Smith (the comedy sequel Clerks 2); Peter Berg (the action-adventure The Rundown with Dwayne ‘The Rock' Johnson and Christopher Walken); Billy Ray (the highly-praised true-life drama Shattered Glass); Spike Lee (The 25th Hour alongside Edward Norton and Philip Seymour Hoffman and He Got Game with Denzel Washington); Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black 2 with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones); Ethan Hawke (Chelsea Walls); and Oliver Stone (Alexander).

On the independent circuit, Dawson starred in and produced the film Descent for director Talia Lugacy. Her first self produced feature film under her production banner, Trybe Films premiered at the 2007 Tribeca Film Festival to rave reviews. And, it was her second collaboration with director Lugacy following the 15-minute short film Bliss Virus, written and directed by the fledgling filmmaker.

A familiar face on the festival circuit, Dawson recently starred in the political drama Explicit Ills, which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, garnering critical praise as well as three citations including the Audience Award at the annual Texas event. She was also seen in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints opposite Robert Downey Jr., Shia LaBeouf, Dianne Wiest, Chazz Palminteri and Channing Tatum, which was honored at the Sundance Film Festival where it received the award for Special Jury Prize for a Dramatic Film. Other indie credits include Love in the Time of Money, written and directed by theater veteran Peter Marrei, which premiered to high acclaim at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival, and another festival favorite, This Girls Life.

Other feature credits include the high school drama Light It Up opposite Forrest Whitaker and Vanessa Williams; Down to You with Freddie Prinze Jr.; Josie and the Pussycats with Rachel Leigh Cook and Tara Reid; the futuristic action-comedy The Adventures of Pluto Nash with Eddie Murphy; Edward Burns' romantic comedy Sidewalks of New York which also starred Heather Graham, Stanley Tucci and Brittany Murphy; Burns' Ash Wednesday; and The First $20 Million Is Always the Hardest, written by Jon Favreau and directed by Mick Jackson.

Dawson made her film debut in the highly acclaimed and controversial hit Kids. Directed by photographer Larry Clark, with a script by Harmony Korine, the film depicted 24 hours in the life of a group of New York Skaters and the havoc that runs through it. The film features a group of kids actually pulled from the streets in New York, as opposed to professional actors. With a surprise midnight screening at Sundance and a spot in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival, her film career was well underway.
