Kevin Williamson
With the Scream films as well as I Know What You Did Last Summer, another 1997 box office phenomenon, Williamson forged a new era in horror and reinvigorated the participation of a prime audience member: the teenager. He also wrote last year's The Faculty, the Robert Rodriguez directed sci-fi thriller.
On the television front, Williamson teamed with Columbia Television and the Warner Bros. Network for the television series Dawson's Creek, a provocative coming-of-age drama about a group of teenagers navigating the perils of growing up. Starring James 'Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams, Dawson's Creek is the highest-rated WB show of all time.
Williamson is developing new projects for both film and television. His new TV creation is Wasteland, a drama about pre-30 something life in New York City.
He is also directing and producing Her Leading Man for Universal Pictures this fall. Williamson was born to a fisherman and a story-telling mother in New Bern, North Carolina. He studied theater and film at East Carolina University, then headed for New York to work as an actor. After moving to Los Angeles, he decided to bank on his lifelong love of story-telling and write a screenplay. That screenplay turned out to be TEACHING MRS. TINGLE.
