Vanessa Paradis
Paradis's film credits include principle roles in Jean Becker's Elisa (1994) in which she played opposite Gerard Depardieu and in Rene Manzor's Un Amour de Sorciere (1996). In 1997 she teamed with director Patrice Leconte for the first time in Une Chance sur Deux where she costarred with French film icons Jean-Paul Belmondo and Alain Delon. Her most important role to date is in Girl on the Bridge in which her character Adele shines in her fragility and her love for Gabor played by Daniel Auteuil.
American audiences were introduced to the young star in 1991 when she appeared in the advertising campaign for the launch of Chanel's signature perfume, Coco, with Paradis playing the role of a plumed vixen trapped in a birdcage. The ad sparked controversy from some American feminists.
In her continuing career as a popular international singing star, Paradis's baby doll vocal style has attracted the attention of industry giants: first written by Etienne Roda Gil, second the late legendary Serge Gainsborurg and later Lenny Kravitz. In 1992 Kravitz produced her album, Vanessa Paradis which covers songs made famous Lou Reed. Paradis is currently working on her fourth album.
