Katrin Cartlidge
Katrin Cartlidge, whose tragic and untimely death at the age of 41 in September 2002 greatly saddened her peers in the acting community both in her native UK and here in the States, was the recipient of the Geneva Film Festival's European Press Prize for European Actress of the Year, for her performance in director Mike Leigh's NAKED. She also won the 1999 Independent Spirit Awards nomination for Best Female lead in CLAIRE DOLAN and the 1997 Best Actress nomination from the London Film Critics Circle for her performance in the critically acclaimed BREAKING THE WAVES. Cartlidge starred in BEFORE THE RAIN, which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film and won the Venice Film Festival's International Critics Prize. She appeared in TOPSY-TURVY, THREE STEPS TO HEAVEN, which won the 1996 Cannes Film Festival Grand Jury Prize, FROM HELL, HOTEL SPLENDIDE, CINDERELLA, THE CHERRY ORCHARD, THE LOST SON, HI-LIFE, CAREER GIRLS, DIMENSIONS, NIGHTLIFE, SAINT-EX, NARANCE, FEVER, EAT THE RICH and SACRED HEARTS. She recently could be seen in the documentary SEARCHING FOR DEBRA WINGER, which was directed by Rosanna Arquette and costars talented women such as Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Meg Ryan, and Gwenyth Paltrow.
Her television credits include Repossessed, The Great Crusade, Nobody's Children, The Funseekers and The Collectors. She could be seen most recently on the TV series Crime and Punishment.
Stage credits include Mnemonic, The Present, The Courtesans, The Terrible Voice of Satan, The Trial, Salome, Dead Sheep, The Shape of the Table and Apart from George.
